Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, April 24, 1992 
Richard ``Pep'' Kearney of the 4800 block of Shafer St., died April 21, 1992, in
a hospital.

Mr. Kearney was born in Edgecombe County, N.C. He had retired from the Norfolk
Naval Base. He was the widower of Lucy Kearney and was a member of Glorious
Kingdom Primitive Baptist Church, Oakland, Calif.

Survivors include five daughters, Emma Whitaker and Beatrice Avery, both of
Norfolk, Naomi Dickens and Leonia Becon, both of Newport News, and Anna McNair
of Oakland; a son, Estea Kearney of Norfolk; a sister, Emma Smith of New Bern,
N.C.; 21 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Macedonia United Church of
Christ by Elder A.D. Wright. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Family and
friends will assemble at 4817 Shafer St. at 1 p.m. for the procession.
Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
