A large number of friends assembled at 68 Brewer Street to take a last look at the deceased, who was very popular among her acquaintances. The remains were taken from her late residence to Christ Church, where appropriate remarks were made by the pastor, Rev. Dr. O.S. Batten. From there the large funeral cortege proceeded to Elmwood Cemetery, where all that was mortal of Mrs. Keating was laid to rest alongside of her husband. James Keating will be well remembered by many old citizens as the once popular proprietor of the Washington House. He sickened and died last August and now his widow has followed him to "that bourne from whence no traveler ere returns." Some two months ago Mrs. Keating was taken sick and has been confined to her bed in extreme misery until death relieved her on Wednesday night. She has left two daughters, who are indeed orphans, having no relative in the world except one cousin in Alexandria. A good woman has gone before. "Cold in the grave the silent heart may lie But that which warmed it once can never die."
