The many friends of Mr. David F. Keeling will be pained this morning to learn of his death, which occurred at his late residence, No. 69 Duke street, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. During his early life, Mr. Keeling was a member of the firm of Keeling & Hipkins, doing business on Campbell's wharf, after which he assumed proprietorship of the old National Hotel, now the Purcell House. Afterward he conducted the restaurant business at No. 207 Main street. Before the war broke out, he went to Baltimore, where he remained until after its close, when he returned to Norfolk. Since that time, he has been engaged in various mercantile pursuits, being at one time the agent of the steamer George Leary, running between here and Washington. Mr. Keeling was warm hearted and generous to a fault and was greatly liked by all who knew him. He was 66 years old and leaves a wife and several children to mourn their loss. His funeral will take place from his late residence tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at 5 o'clock.
