Oliver Funeral Apartments by the Rev. Moultrie Guerry, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Miss Keeling became the first principal of the new Frances E. Willard School, built in 1929, and retained that position until 1945 when failing health forced her retirement. She received her education at the Hemingway School, a private school for girls, later to become Norfolk High School; at the Norfolk College for Young Ladies, corner College Place and Granby Street, and summer sessions at various colleges in Virginia and at the Norfolk Division, College of William and Mary-VPI. Her teaching career started at Huntersville Elementary School, then in Norfolk County, under the superintendence of Capt. J.P. West. One of the principals under whom she taught was A.H. Foreman who, when Captain West died, was named superintendent. She then was elected principal of the Huntersville Grammar and High School. When this suburb was annexed to Norfolk, she was transferred to the principalship of Lafayette Elementary and High School, still a part of the city in 1910. Born at London Bridge, Princes Anne County, she had resided in Norfolk since childhood. Surviving are one nephew, Henry T. Keeling; one niece, Miss Mary Frances Keeling; seven cousins, Mrs. G.F. Birdsong, Mrs. S.M. Atkinson, T.E. Brickhouse, Miss Fanny W. Brickhouse, George G. Williams and Mrs. Virginia T. Laylor.
