Kelley, 75, former teacher and head of the commercial department at Maury High School, died Saturday night at 10:08 o’clock after a brief illness. He was well known to hundreds of present and former students of Maury, having been a member of the faculty from 1917 until June of last year when he retired. He was called back for supplementary work up to a few weeks before he died. He had engaged in the teaching profession for half a century and formerly taught in Girardville and Tamaqua, both in Pennsylvania. Mr. Kelley was a native of Plymouth, Pa., and had made his home in Norfolk for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Fourth Degree branch of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna M. Kelley; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph H. Moore; two sons, Donald G. Kelley and H. Leonard Kelley, of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Dougherty and Mrs. Cordelia Mikules, both of Washington; and four grandchildren. Rosary services will be held tonight at 7:30 o’clock at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
