The Norfolk Landmark August 18, 1889 

Mr. Daniel D. Kelley, a former well known resident of this city, but who has 
recently been living near the Indian Poll Bridge, in this county, died at his 
residence Friday evening, aged seventy years. Mr. Kelley was the father of our 
townsman Mr. Steven S. Kelley and was very popular with an extended 
acquaintance. His remains will be brought to the city this afternoon and the 
funeral will take place at 4:30 p.m. from the Freemason Street Baptist Church.

                         Funeral of Mr. D.D. Kelley

The funeral of this well known gentleman took place from the Freemason Street 
Baptist Church Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. Rev. T.G. Jones, 
assisted by Rev. J.J. Hall, conducted the services, after which the remains were 
conveyed to Elmwood Cemetery, the following gentlemen acting as pallbearers: 
Messrs. O.A. Davis, L. Royster, James Winston, K.R. Gallup, T.P. Warren, S.H. 
Randlett. The deceased was a well known citizen and leaves a wife and two sons, 
Messrs. S.S. and J.M. Kelley who reside in this city and daughter, Mrs. E.L. 
Dennis, of Houston, Tex.
