CHESAPEAKE - Miss Catherine DuVal Kemp, 73, of 510 Kemp Lane, retired Norfolk 
schoolteacher with 37 years of service, died Tuesday at 2:40 p.m. in a Hollywood 
(Fla.) hospital. She was visiting in Florida.
A lifelong Norfolk resident, she began teaching at Granby High School the year 
it opened. At retirement in 1968, she was head of Granby's Science Department 
and was a chemistry teacher.
She was a graduate of Longwood College, attended Madison College, and took 
graduate work at the University of Virginia.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Oaklette United 
Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Harry E. Billups of Virginia Beach; a foster 
sister, Miss Sybil Boggs of Chesapeake; five nieces; and a nephew.
The body will be sent to Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, for 
funeral and burial.
CHESAPEAKE - A funeral for Miss Catherine DuVal Kemp, of 510 Kemp Lane, will be 
held Friday at 3 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Charles Bartholomew Jr., 
of Oaklette United Methodist Church. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River 
Chapel, has charge.
