Virginian Pilot July 31, 1909

James Kennedy, for many years a member of the watch force in the navy yard, 
died at 12:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon in his residence, 726 Fourth 
Street, South Portsmouth, in the 87th year of his age.
He was a native of Boston, Mass., but made his home in Portsmouth since the 
close of the Civil War.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of Portsmouth Naval Lodge No. 100, A.F. and A.M.
The funeral service will take place at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the 
Kennedy residence and at the conclusion the body will be conveyed to Elmwood 
Cemetery, Norfolk, where interment will take place.

The funeral of James Kennedy, lately a navy yard watchman, who died last 
Friday afternoon in his residence at 726 Fourth Street, South Portsmouth, 
will take place there at 4 o'clock this afternoon.
At the conclusion of the service the body will be conveyed to Elmwood 
Cemetery in Norfolk, where interment will take place.
