Virginian-Pilot  December 10, 1913
Joseph D. Kenny, about 50 years old, was found dead last night in an old shack 
where he had been living, in the rear of 910 Water street. Kenny had been employed 
in O’Connor’s bar at 910 Water street and had made his home in the shack in the 
rear. He was last seen alive at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon when he entered the 
shack. Dr. Knight, city coroner, viewed the body and gave a certificate of death 
being due to natural causes.
The dead man has a brother who is a sergeant on the New York police force and a 
telegram was sent him last night by Sergeant Guynn at police headquarters, 
notifying him of his brother’s death.
