He was the son of Kathlyn Wittier Keogh and the late John Dwyer Keogh. He is survived by his wife, Mary Grissom Keogh; his daughter, Emily Keogh Zak and son- in-law William Nathan Zak; his son, Leigh Chapman Keogh and daughter-in-law Jaime Elizabeth Keogh; two brothers, Timothy Keogh of New Orleans, La., and John Keogh of Corvallis, Ore.; two sisters, Kathleen Rahman of Virginia Beach and Anne Keogh of Norfolk; and two grandchildren, William Wittier Zak and Kate Breson Zak. He was a graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School and Belmont Abbey College. A career banker, he was the president and CEO of Heritage Bank & Trust for the last 17 years. Mr. Keogh served on numerous boards and held leadership positions and memberships in a wide variety of business and community service organizations including: United Way of South Hampton Roads, Tidewater Community College, City of Norfolk Employees’ Retirement System, Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Greater Norfolk Corporation, Old Dominion Trust Company Inc., Virginia Bankers Association, Catholic High School, Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System Inc., Downtown Norfolk Council and Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. A funeral Mass will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Father John Dorgan and Monsignor Thomas Caroluzza, followed by a graveside service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. There will be a Christian Wake at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments today at 7 p.m., followed by a visitation of family and friends. Family members request that in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to Catholic High School in memory of Robert J. Keogh.
