Virginian Pilot Tuesday June 8, 1909

The funeral of Joseph S. Kersey was conducted from the residence of his parents, 
Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Kersey, in Eighteenth street, South Norfolk, yesterday afternoon 
at 5 o'clock.
Rev. Charles Straughan, pastor of the Twelfth Street Mission, officiated and the 
interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.  The deceased was 17 years old, was a native 
of North Carolina, but had been living here three years.
He died early Sunday morning, after a brief illness.
