VIRGINIA BEACH — Oliver “Scrappy” Kessing III, 36, 2149 Whisper Sands Lane, a 
native of Newport, R.I, died Thursday in a hospital.
Mr. Kessing owned Monarch Builders and Ghent Realty and was associated with 
Columbia Import, Inc. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents, Dulcene D. Kessing and Oliver O. Kessing Jr. of 
Virginia Beach; a son, Derick C. Kessing of Norfolk; two sisters, Kathleen 
Kessing-Saunders and Betsey K. Hayden, both of Norfolk; and five brothers, 
Douglas L. Kessing, Kevin W. Kessing, Patrick M. Kessing, Bailey D. Kessing and 
Rogers Kessing, all of Norfolk.
A Joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at noon Saturday in St. 
Pius X Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. Ron Ruth.
H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Joy Fund or the Diabetes Foundation.
