Virginian-Pilot February 26, 1936
Mrs. Katherine Mary Kessler, aged 36 years, wife of Frank S. Kessler, and 
daughter of Nicholas J. and the late Mary Hoffman Detterman, died at 2:20 
o’clock yesterday morning at the residence, 816 Windsor avenue. Mrs. Kessler was 
a native of Cumberland, Md., and had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 22 
years. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, the Misses Louisa 
Mae and Thelma Leigh Kessler; her father, Nicholas J. Detterman; four sisters, 
Mrs. William Hayden, Mrs. T. W. Treakle, Mrs. C. O. Rhodes, and Mrs. George 
Thompson; four brothers. John, Henry, George and Frederick Detterman, all of 
Norfolk. Remains will be taken from H. D. Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, 610-12 
East Freemason street, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for services tomorrow 
morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
