Father Kevill, formerly of Norfolk, and whose death has been heretofore announced: "Rev. Father W. J. Kevill, S.J., of Gonzaga College, died at 3:15 o’clock yesterday afternoon at the St. Aloysius parsonage, where he had been confined for about a week. When first taken sick, Father Kevill appeared to have only a slight cold, but yesterday morning it was evident that he was suffering from a severe attack of pneumonia and congestion of the lungs. Drs. Kleinschmidt and Magruder held a consultation, but his condition was beyond medical skill, and the patient died at the hour stated. "Father Kevill was a native of Norfolk, Va., where he was born in 1853. Before leaving that city, he attended St. Mary’s school. He afterward attended the Louvne, Belgium, University, where he was a pupil of Monsignor Schroeder, who is now at the Catholic University here. In 1881, Father Kevill entered the Society of Jesus; three years later he studied at Woodstock, and, in 1885, he was a teacher in Gonzaga College. Three years ago he was ordained at Woodstock by Cardinal Gibbons, and, from that time until the latter part of last year, he was a professor in St. John’s College, Fordham, N.Y. In September of last year, he came to this city as vice-president and prefect of studies in Gonzaga College, which position he held at the time of his death. Father Kevill was to have preached the sermon at the next Sunday services, when Monsignor Schroeder was to have sung mass. His funeral will take place from St. Aloysius church tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 9 o’clock. The interment will be in the cemetery of Georgetown College.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/norfolkcity/obits/k/keville7903nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/vafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
