The Virginian-Pilot, Wednesday, December 27, 1961

NORFOLK - Mrs. Sophia Kimble, 60, died Monday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. 
Helen Wiggins at 1476 Proescher St., after illness of two weeks.

She was born in Edenton, N.C., a daughter of Somon and Mrs. Henrietta Whitfoot. 
She lived in Norfolk 52 years.

Besides her daughter, surviving are four sons, William Whitfield, Richard 
Hassell, Robert Hassell and George Hassell of Norfolk; four stepsons, John E. 
Kimble and George N. Kimble of New York City, Nathaniel Kimble of Florida and 
William Henry Kimble of New Jersey; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Catherine Foreman 
of Norfolk.

The body was taken to Hale Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in First 
Baptist Church, Campostella, of which she was a member, Friday at 2 p.m. by the 
Rev. R.L. Harris. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family is at 911 
Wolcott Ave.
