NORFOLK - Sam King Jr., 60, of 6443 Azalea Garden Road, a retired Colonial 
Stores employee and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday in a hospital.
He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joyce King Gilbert, and a son, Sam King III, 
both of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel K. Gregory of Richmond, Mrs. Dora K. 
Midgette of Manteo, N.C., Mrs. Ruby K. Carpenter of Norfolk, and Mrs. Mary K. 
Herron of Titusville, Fla.; a brother, Vernon King Sr. of Virginia Beach; and 
four grandchildren.
The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, where a Christian Wake 
service will be held tonight at 7. A Joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be 
said Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery. The family will be at 5841 Hartwick Drive.
