King, 43, of the 700 block of Twenty-seventh street, died today at 12:53 a.m. at St. Vincent’s Hospital of a fractured skull sustained when he was struck by or walked into an automobile driven by D. V. Savage, 3200 block of Verdun avenge, Tuesday night at Eighteenth and Church streets. The charge against Savage has been changed from assault with an automobile to manslaughter. King was crossing Church street when the accident occurred and Savage contends that the accident was unavoidable as the man walked into his car.
