Virginian-Pilot January 1, 1939
Mrs. Mary Lee Kirby, widow of Walter S. Kirby and daughter of the late John R. 
and Mrs. Victoria Henry Seemer, died at a local hospital yesterday afternoon at 
4:20 o'clock. Mrs. Kirby was a native of Easton, Talbot County, Md., and a 
resident of Norfolk for the past 25 years, residing at the Del Argo Apartments 
940 Gates avenue, at the time of her death.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Bryarly Munnikhuysen, of Baltimore; and 
Mrs. Heywood B. Tatem, of Norfolk; one son, W. Carroll Kirby, of Washington, 
D.C.; four grandchildren, John M. and Joseph Munnikhuysen, Mrs. Henry Gwyn, and 
Heywood B. Tatem, Jr., and one great-grandchild, Mary Lee Gwyn.
Services will be held at the chapel of the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 
Colonial avenue, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. E. Ruffin Jones, 
D.D., rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, of which Mrs. Kirby was a member, 
officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
