Knapp and daughter of the late Josiah and Mary Pierce Underwood, a native of Windsor and a resident of Norfolk for a number of years, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. James W. Down, 4440 North Eleventh street, Arlington, Monday night at 11 o'clock after a long illness. Mrs. Knapp is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Down, Mrs. J. D. Purvis, of Lumberton, N.C. and Mrs. S. C. Taylor, of Sumter, S.C; three sons, Joseph Lee Knapp, of Philadelphia; Harry Lee Knapp, of Baltimore, and Ralph Lee Knapp, of Dusseldorf, Germany; two sisters, Miss Clara Underwood and Mrs. W. G. Collins, both of Norfolk; two brothers, Cad Underwood, of Suffolk, and S. H. Underwood, of Norfolk; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, Thirty-fifth street at Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
