Norfolk Virginian Pilot May 13, 1951

William Alexander Knight, 77, died yesterday at 2:20 a.m. at his home, 1200 
Hawthorne Drive, North Highland, after an illness of eight years.
A native of Tyrrell County, N.C., he had lived in this section 58 years.  
His late parents were Thomas W. and Mrs. Mary Roberts Alexander Knight.
He was a member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, of which he was a 
deacon; Doric Lodge No. 44, A.F. and A.M., Chesapeake Tribe No. 50, Improved 
Order of Red Men, and the Marine Engineers Benefit Association No. 11.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Newberry Knight; four sons, Dr. H. Knight, 
of Surry; William N. Knight, Harry H. Knight and John Knight, all of 
Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. W.H. Starke and Miss Mary R. Knight, both of 
Norfolk; two brothers, R.A. Knight, of Butner, N.C. and R.S. Knight, of 
Columbia, N.C. and 12 grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, where funeral 
services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in the 
Newberry family plot, Pea Ridge, N.C.
