Jeraline Seelinger Knight (Jerry), 91, passed away on November 6, 2022, at her 
home. She was the daughter of Mary Cardoza Seelinger and Harry Ralph Seelinger 
and was born and lived in Norfolk, Virginia. She attended Maury High School and 
the Norfolk Division of William and Mary, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
She was married to Montgomery Knight, Jr. (Monty) for over 62 years, who 
predeceased her in October 2016. Some of their happiest years were when she was 
head cheerleader at the Norfolk Division of William and Mary, and Monty was on 
its basketball and baseball teams. She served as a high school and college 
teacher, and then as a wife, homemaker and mother.
She is survived by two children, Paul Knight and Kim Phillips, and was preceded 
in death by her parents and siblings. She is also survived by grandchildren, 
nieces and nephews she was close to.
A graveside service will be held on January 13, 2023, at 12:00pm at St. Mary’s 
Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to 
Saint Mary’s Home for Disabled Children. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk 
Chapel is handling arrangements.
