Virginia Beach - Dorothy Parsons "Dot" Knighton, 93 of Melbourne, FL, formerly 
of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, passed away on Feb. 5, 2015. "Dot" was born in 
Norfolk, VA, and was the daughter of the late James R. Parsons and Elizabeth 
"Libby" Hamilton Parsons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady 
"Gene" Knighton and daughter Dotty Jene Salyers. Dot was a member of London 
Bridge Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, James Ray Knighton and Nancy 
(spouse) of Melbourne, FL, and grandsons, Stephen of Hollywood, CA and Brian 
Salyers of Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, 
Feb. 10, 2015, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, by the Rev. Tom 
Armbrister. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to 
the service. A private burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
