He was riding in a patrol car with M. P. Garrison, another patrolman, when he was fatally stricken. A member of the police force at the Beach for more than three years, Mr. Krause had become a well known figure, active in civic work of the community especially among the youth of Virginia Beach and nearby area. In addition to his duties on the police force, Mr. Krause served as program director of the Virginia Beach Community House for the resort's Permanent Youth Commission. He was a native of Youngstown, Ohio, but had made his home in New York City for a number of years before coming to live at Virginia Beach. A veteran of 14 years service in the Army and National Guard, Mr. Krause first came to the Beach with the 244th Coast Artillery, a part of the New York National Guard, which was encamped at Camp Pendleton. He held the rank of first sergeant. He was a member of American Legion Post 113 of Princess Anne County and the Tidewater Chapter, Police Association of Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Stellane Krause, who resides at 307 21st Street; one son Kenneth, eight; one daughter, Tanya Marie, five; his mother, Mrs. Helen Krause, of Astoria, Long Island, N.Y.; his father, Lewis Kraseoski, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and one brother, Victor Krause, also of Astoria, Long Island, N.Y. The body was taken from the Virginia Beach Hospital to the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments in Norfolk, where rosary services will be held today at 8 p.m. The body will be taken from the funeral apartments to the Star of the Sea Catholic Church for funeral services Saturday at 10. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Virginian-Pilot, March 16, 1951 FUNERALS: Mack William Krause - The body of Mr. Krause, who died Wednesday at Virginia Beach, will be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to the Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, for services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. Rosary services will be held at the Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 8 o'clock.
