Kresinske, 76, of the 1600 block of Rich Ave., died peacefully Dec. 20, 2005. He was a native of Oil City, Pa., and a resident of Norfolk for more than 40 years. He was the son of the late Edward and Georgia Sager Kresinske. He retired from the United States Navy as an officer after serving his country for 20 years. He was a Korean War veteran. Jerry was employed by Southern Sanitary Company, Norfolk, and was a Past Grand Commander in the International Order of the Alhambra, Padul Caravan No. 69, contributing his time and efforts to the participants of the Special Olympics and to St. Jude events. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3548. He was a staunch supporter of the Washington Redskins and was still in celebration of the "victory" over the Dallas Cowboys. He was an avid Old Dominion University basketball fan. Jerry was a Roman Catholic and a former member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was active in the Azalea Association. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Noreen, and he was a devoted father to his children, Rick and his wife Vicky, Jamie and his wife Sherry and Kathy; and had six beautiful grandchildren, Brett, Trae, Ricky, Kyle, Kandis and Sydney. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Trout of Oil City, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Christian wake, followed by the Alhambra prayer service, will be held in the Norfolk chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Monday at 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the International Order of the Alhambra Scholarship Fund or to the St. Jude Children’ s Research Hospital.
