Mr. Kyte, a member of an old Norfolk family, was working as a radio frequency design engineer for Lucent Technologies. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Edwin pursued an education in physics. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA and a Master of Science degree from Berkeley, and did additional graduate studies in electrical engineering at Stanford University. Edwin was a radio frequency/microwave engineer in component and system design, as well as system architecture. Edwin was also proficient in many computer languages and operating systems. He developed numerous mathematical models for investment banking, aircraft landing approach guidance systems, and product manufacturing communities. After his boyhood years in Guam, Virginia, Washington state and Florida, Edwin's career took him to many other parts of the United States and to other countries. His charisma, knowledge, honesty and gentleness had an impact on everyone he met. Mr. Kyte is survived by his mother, Ms. Louisa Walke Tazewell of Charlottesville, Va., and his father, Mr. Edwin Louis Kyte Sr. of Bel Air, Md. He is also survived by his brother, Mr. Littleton Waller Tazewell of Talcott, W.Va.; and his twin sisters, Mrs. Louise Kyte Greer and Mrs. Cordelia Kyte Gary, both of Charlottesville, Va. Additional survivors include three uncles and two aunts, Dr. Paul R. Flowers of Dothan, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. W. Barton Baldwin of Norfolk, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Stuart Hume of Virginia Beach. A private memorial service will be held on Sunday in Charlottesville. Because of Edwin's love and belief in freedom, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Future of Freedom Foundation, 11350 Random Hills Road, Suite 800, Fairfax, VA 22030.
