Norfolk Landmark July 13, 1880
SUDDEN DEATH FROM EXCESSIVE DRINKING. - At 5 o'clock Sunday evening, a discharged 
United States Marine, by the name of Michael Lambe, was found by Officers Hambury 
and Dickson in an insensible condition and taken to the station-house, where he 
died about five minutes afterwards. Dr. John M. Galt, City Coroner, was present, 
who caused a jury to be summoned and held an inquest over the body at 6:30 p.m. 
The jury returned a verdict that death resulted from excessive drinking.
