Lambert, 78, a retired educator, died Feb. 27, 2006, at an assisted living facility in Columbia, Md., from complications caused by Multiple Sclerosis. She had been a resident of that facility since September 2001. She was a native of Norfolk and a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She later attended the prestigious Spellman College in Atlanta, Ga., where she majored in elementary education. Later in life, she moved to Virginia Beach with her husband of 54 years, where she became a teaching assistant with the Virginia Beach Center for Effective Learning. Upon retiring from the Virginia Beach School System, she became very active in community affairs, including serving as a campaign organizer during several mayoral and statewide elections. She was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church in Virginia Beach and Shiloh Baptist Church in Norfolk, where she served as a Sunday school teacher at both and participated in a host of church activities. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling around the country with her husband, taking in the sights they had read about and visiting their children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Paula M. Murray of Randallstown, Md., Calvin P. Lambert Jr. of Houston, Texas, Victor R. Lambert of Fort Washington, Md., and Vera E. Lambert of Pikesville, Md.; a sister, Celestine McAllister of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral will be held at noon Monday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Norfolk. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive guests Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Home, Hampton.
