Mrs. Lambert went to Washington, DC Saturday, Feb. 21, and died Sunday, Feb. 22, while visiting relatives in the capital. A native of Grifton, NC, who had lived in Norfolk for over 51 years, Mrs. Lambert was the daughter of the late Rev. Alexander and Mrs. Penny Rouse. At Bethlehem Baptist Church where she held membership, Mrs. Lambert was active in the choir, the Missionary Circle, and Ladies Usher Board No1. She also held membership in many organizations, including, the Order of Eastern Star, Martha Francis Chapter, the United Order of Tents, Fidelis Social and Civic club, Pleasure Social and Savings club and the Neighborhood Garden Club. Wife of Dockeroy Lambert, she is also survived by four sons, Melvin Lambert, Calvin Lambert, and Dockeroy Lambert Jr., of Norfolk; Lt. Alexander Lambert, USA, Ft. Riley KS; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Thomson of Washington DC; Mrs. Beulah White, of Indianapolis IN; Mrs. Naomi Adams, Mrs. Lena Dixon, and Mrs. Queenie Branch, all of Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Lena Rouse Smith, Norfolk; and 23 grandchildren. Morning Glory Funeral home will be in charge of burial arrangements.
