COLUMBIA, Md. - Calvin P. Lambert Sr., 78, a civil servant and retired aircraft
mechanic, died Aug. 27, 2003, at an assisted living facility in Columbia. He had
been a resident of that facility since suffering a stroke in June 2001.
He was a native of Norfolk and a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.
He later graduated from several trade schools including watch repair, auto body
and airplane mechanics. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific
and Europe. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Station after 32 years of
service as an aircraft mechanic. Upon retiring, he was active in local politics
serving as a poll monitor, a campaign organizer and an election's judge. He was
a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Norfolk where he was active in
Sunday school and served in many other capacities.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Juanita M. Lambert; four children, Paula
M. Murray of Randallstown, Md., Calvin P. Lambert Jr. of Houston, Texas, Victor
R. Lambert of Fort Washington, Md., and Vera E. Lambert of Randallstown; and two
brothers, three sisters, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Norfolk.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive guests today
at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. The Lambert family is receiving services of
comfort from Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton,
728-0122.
