Norfolk Ledger Dispatch December 22, 1919

Mrs. Ellen J. Land, wife of William J. Land, died at the Allmand Home, 505 East 
Freemason Street, last evening, aged 77 years. The remains will be taken from 
the funeral apartments of H.C. Smith, 306-08 Bank Street to the Cumberland 
Street Methodist Church for funeral at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
Mrs. Land had resided in Norfolk for forty-five years, during which time she had 
been a member of the Cumberland Street Methodist Church and was a lady of 
beautiful life and character.

at 7:30 o'clock p.m., ELLEN J., wife of William J. Land, aged 77 years. 
The remains will be taken from the funeral apartments of H.C. Smith  Co., 306-
308 Bank Street, THIS (Tuesday) MORNING, December 23, for funeral services at 
the Cumberland Street M.E. Church at 11 o'clock. Friends invited to attend.

The funeral of Mrs. Ellen J. Land, wife of William J. Land, was held at the 
Cumberland Street Methodist Church yesterday morning, Rev. S.A. Donahoe 
officiating. The funeral was largely attended and there were many floral 
tributes. The pallbearers were F.A. Gilbert, Dr. J.B. Shipp, J.H. Kegebein, J.L. 
Joyner and E.J. Whitehurst.
