George Sanchez Land, 82, widower of Betty R. Land, passed away Wednesday, February 
28, 2018. A lifelong resident of Tidewater, he has lived on the Peninsula since 
1975. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, worked for NASA 
during the Apollo program and was a computer engineer.
George is survived by his daughters, Marie E. Wayman, Eve R. Harmon and Brenda M. 
Gilley; sons, George S. Land, II, Gregory E. Land, Paul H. Land, Christopher Land 
and Joseph S. Land; brother, Ralph Land; twenty-seven grandchildren, five great-
grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 12:30 PM Saturday at Berceuse Funeral and 
Cremation Traditions in Hampton. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's 
Cemetery in Norfolk.
Arrangements are by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. 
in Hampton, 757-825-8070.
