Betty Nobles Land, 62, died Dec. 31, 2002. Born in Chadbourne, N.C., she had been 
a Hampton Roads resident for 45 years.

Mrs. Land is survived by her husband of 43 years, George S. Land; her daughters, 
Marie E. Land of Lawrenceville, Ga., Eve Land Kidd of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Brenda 
M. Gilly of Fredericksburg; her sons, George S. Land II of Matthews, Gregory E. 
Land of York County, Paul H. Land of Charles City County, Christopher Land of 
Poquoson and Joseph Land of Newport News; her sisters, Helen Nance of Darlington, 
S.C., Mary Alice VanHoy and Martha Fowler, both of Marion, Va.; her brother, Paul 
Nobles of Chadbourne; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that expressions of sympathy take the form 
of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 895 Middle Ground Blvd., Suite 
154, Newport News, VA 23606. Arrangements are being provided by Berceuse Funeral 
and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive in Hampton.
