Land, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Land, on Sharp street, was drowned yesterday evening while he and his companion, Elwood Calhoun, were bathing in Cummer company's log pound. They were alone and neither could swim. The water is some forty feet deep. Joseph being the first to get his clothes off made a jump. His companion seeing him sinking, ran for help, but before the colored man nearby could rescue him he was drowned. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the residence, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Chandler. The interment will be made in Magnolia Cemetery. ******************************************************************** The funeral of little Joseph Land who was drowned Tuesday, took place at the residence yesterday evening at 4 o'clock and was conducted by the Rev.
