Ruth A. Land, 93, formerly of Easy Street, died Oct. 17, 2003. A native of
Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Martha Land.
She was employed for 44 years as a maid and elevator operator at the Monticello
Arcade in downtown Norfolk. She will be remembered as a pioneer member of Second
Calvary Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Choir, Trustee Board,
Women's Missionary Union, Hospitality Committee and was a former Sunday school
teacher.
A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday at Second Calvary Baptist Church, 2940
Corprew Ave., Norfolk. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The Land
family is being served by Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Home, Hampton, 728-0122.
