Landis, aged 23 years, died at 390 Queen street at 5 a.m. Sunday from laudanum poisoning taken with suicidal intent. The girl, supposed to be despondent as a result of news from her home in Tennessee that her mother had become paralyzed, drank two ounces of laudanum at 9 p.m. Saturday. Dr. Brown was summoned as soon as her condition was discovered and remained with the girl all night. Every effort was made to save the unfortunate's life. The body will be buried here, the expense to be borne by friends of the deceased. The funeral took place this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. E. P. Miner officiating. Interment in Elmwood cemetery.
