Lane, aged 94, well known in South Norfolk, died yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at the residence of her son, W.H. Lane, 1044 Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, after a brief illness. Mrs. Lane was practically a lifelong resident of Norfolk County. She was a native of Gates County, N.C., a daughter of the late Abraham and Mrs. Mary Cooper Brinkley. She was the widow of William T. Lane. Surviving Mrs. Lane are two sons, J.T. and W.H. Lane, eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lane was a charter member of the South Norfolk Christian Church and was for many years active in the church's work. The Martha C. Lane Circle of the church was named for her. The body was removed to the funeral home of J.R. Williams, 1027 Chesapeake avenue. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the South Norfolk Christian Church. Burial will be in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
