Langley suddenly at his home, corner of Freemason and Cumberland streets, at 3 o'clock yesterday morning was heard with great surprise and sorrow in the community where he was so well known and eminently popular. Mr. Langley had been in feeble health for some time but was able to attend the meeting of his lodge of Elks on the very night of his demise. Wednesday morning, he complained of being unwell but rallied sufficiently from his sickness to go out during the day and again at night. After leaving his lodge and returning to his home, he became alarmingly ill. A physician was summoned, but he died of apoplexy at the hour named. The deceased was a son of the late Charles H. Langley, who was the cashier of the Franklin Savings bank of this city, and was born in Norfolk, where he resided all of his life. The deceased had for many years been and was at the time of his death, chief clerk of the Clyde Steamship line at Norfolk. He was a member of the Eagles, Red Men, Elks, Odd Fellows and Heptasophs or S. W. M. He is survived by a widow and little daughter, a brother and several sisters. At the time of his death, Mr. Langley was in the 55th year of his age. The funeral will be held from the residence at 4 o'clock this afternoon.
