Virginian-Pilot September 23, 1963
PORTSMOUTH — Mrs. Mary Ethel Lankford, 78, of 49 Bugle Drive, died Sunday at 7 
p.m. in a Newport News hospital.
A native of Boykins, she was a daughter of Joel S. and Mrs. Emma Turner Vick and 
widow of James Lankford. She had lived in Portsmouth 23 years.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The body was taken to Snellings Funeral Home where a funeral will be held Tuesday 
at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Paul W. Turner of Taylor Road Baptist Church. Burial will be 
in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk.
