When he retired in the summer of 1953, he had been working at the building, including the U.S. District Courts, for nearly 20 years. As an elevator operator, he had taken most of the city's prominent residents an thousands of visitors to the flour floors occupied by government agencies. Born in Gates County, N.C., he lived in the Norfolk area 62 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Ottie Wyatt Williams Lassiter and a son of Frank P. and Mrs. Mary Moore Lassiter. He was a Baptist. Besides his widow, surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clarence L. Mitchell, Mrs. David W. Gregory and Mrs. Frank Swab of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Clifton M. Williams and Harry S. Williams of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Vick and Mrs. William Cole of Atlanta; 11 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
