The Norfolk Virginian Pilot March 6, 1936 


Mrs. Bertha Wise Lassiter, wife of William W. Lassiter and daughter of the late 
Thomas O. and Mrs. Susie Veale Wise, died at her residence, 4507 Colonial 
Avenue, last night at 11:35 o’clock. Mrs. Lassiter was a native and lifelong 
resident of Norfolk. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, William 
Crawford and Jack Ridley Lassiter; a grandson, William Crawford, Jr.; two 
sisters, Mrs. Richard T. Brooke and Mrs. Charles H. Curran; a niece, Mrs. 
Eugene Zabawa, all of Norfolk, and two nephews, Merriweather Winston, Jr., of 
Norfolk, and J.J. Moore of Charlotte, N.C. The body was taken to H.D. Oliver’s 
Funeral Apartments 610-612 East Freemason Street, pending funeral arrangements.
