Emmet Joseph Lawler Jr., 79, of the 9500 block of Hammett Parkway, died Oct. 28, 
1993, in his residence.

Mr. Lawler was a native of Norfolk and retired from the United States Civil 
Service. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Norfolk and the Ocean 
View Golf Association.

Survivors include a sister, Kathleen L. Gatewood of Virginia Beach; a nephew, Clay 
R. Gatewood Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; a great-niece, Kathleen Gatewood of Virginia 
Beach; and a great-nephew, C.R. Gatewood III of New Orleans, La.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X 
Catholic Church by Reverend Michael M. Duffy. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery. The family will be at 2830 Shore Drive, Apt. (NU)708, Virginia 
Beach, Va. 23451. Memorial donations may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church. 
H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road, is handling arrangements.
