Mr. Lawler was a sales representative of C.E. Thurston & Sons Inc. and retired after 30 years of service. He was a native of Norfolk, where he received his education in the parochial school system. He was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. He was a captain in the Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Survivors include his wife, Edith Fanney Lawler; two daughters, Susanne L. Christiansen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Loren L. Wilee of Chesapeake; a son, Webster R. Lawler Jr. of Cary, N.C.; a brother, Lee F. Lawler of Virginia Beach; and nine grandchildren, David, Jordan and John Christiansen, Mark, Darden and Trent Wilee, Carrie, Patrick and John Lawler. Mr. Lawler was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel Lawler Yerby and his brother, John Francis Lawler. A funeral memorial mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Star of the Sea Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at 107-A 52nd St., Virginia Beach. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Infant Home in Norfolk or to the American Cancer Society.
