NORFOLK - John Francis Lawler, 64, of 900 Brandon Ave., the husband of Mrs. 
Elizabeth Ledbetter Lawler and a lifelong Norfolk resident, died Monday in a 
Portsmouth hospital.
He was employed by Boone Distributing Co. of Portsmouth and was an Army veteran 
of World War II.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Elks Lodge of Norfolk. 
Besides his wife of Petersburg, survivors include a daughter, Miss Mary Beth 
Lawler of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Lawler Yerby of Norfolk; and two 
brothers, Webster R. Lawler and Lee F. Lawler of Virginia Beach.
The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. A Memorial Mass will be 
celebrated Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial 
in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and 
memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
