Virginian-Pilot  May 2, 1936
Mrs. Mary Thomas Lawler, aged 77 years, widow of Robert F. Lawler, and daughter of 
the late Thomas and Sarah Spires Mathews, died yesterday afternoon at 3:10 o’clock 
at the residence, 714 Graydon Park. Mrs. Lawler was a native of Winton, N. C., and 
had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 65 years. She is survived by one 
daughter, Mrs. Cora M. Lawler; one son, Robert B. Lawler; five grandchildren, the 
Misses Mildred and Frances Lawler, and Palmer, Edward, and Joseph Lawler. Funeral 
services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which she was a member, 
Monday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
