Virginian-Pilot  April 9, 1943
Patrick Henry Lawler, aged 79,  husband of Mrs. Mary Ann Lanigan Lawler, and son 
of the late John and Mrs. Susan Shaw Lawler, died at the residence, 603 
Seventeenth street, Virginia Beach, yesterday (Thursday) morning at 10:30 
o’clock, after an illness of several months.
Mr. Lawler, a Spanish-American War veteran, was a retired sergeant of the 
Norfolk Police Department, and a member of the Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 
Virginia Beach. Besides his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Lanigan Lawler, he is survived 
by one son, Thomas Patrick Lawler, of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. J. A. 
McDermott, of Baltimore, and Mrs. O. H. Christenson, of Salt Lake City, Utah; 12 
grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial 
avenue, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for funeral services tomorrow morning at 
10 o’clock. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held 
at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 7 o’clock.
