A native of Norfolk, he was the husband of Mrs. Karla Stanek Lawler. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia and a veteran of World War II. He was a Roman Catholic and a member of American Legion Post 35, Isaac Walton League, and Cape Henry Audubon Society. Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Caroline Lawler of Kent, Ohio; and a son, Robert P. Lawler; a sister, Mrs. Frances L. Scullion; and two brothers, Edward F. Lawler and Joseph J. Lawler, all of Norfolk. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, by the Rev. Phillip Farrell. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family, which will be at 2514 Console Ave., requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to Cape Henry Audubon Society, care of C. E. Peyton, treasurer, 5941 McClure Road, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
