He was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. For a number of years, he helped local church, civic and social groups put on entertainments. He participated in numerous offerings of local amateur theatrical groups, the last being in the role of "The Wreck," in "My Sister Eileen," produced by the Little Theatre here. He was taken seriously ill before the close of the four-day showing, and a substitution was made in the part. Active in Bible Class Mr. Lawrence was a member of the First Baptist Church and an active member of its Young Men's Bible Class. He was employed in the auditing department of the Virginia Engineering Company. Besides his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Robert S. Thompson and Mrs. Joseph Ferris, and a nephew, all of Norfolk. The body was taken to the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover avenue, pending completion of funeral arrangements. A friend said last night that Mr. Lawrence was affectionately known by his many friends in local theatrical circles as "Fats," and gave untiringly of his talents and time in putting on many diversified types of entertainment. Albert Carl Lawrence - Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence, son of Mrs. Daisy Schofield and the late Albert David Lawrence, who died at the residence, 805 Redgate avenue, Apartment 3, Sunday afternoon, will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover avenue this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev Broadus E. Jones, pastor of First Baptist Church, of which Mr. Lawrence was an active member, and the Rev. John F. Ward, pastor of the Church of the Ascension, will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in elmwood Cemetery.
