NORFOLK - Mrs. Mary Siebirt Lawrence, 92, of Hague Towers, 330 W. Brambleton 
Ave., well known in Norfolk business circles before her retirement many years 
ago, died Thursday at 1:27 a.m. in a hospital.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she was a daughter of William Frederick and Mrs. 
Martha Hodges Siebirt and the widow of James Newell Lawrence.
She was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church. During World War I, she was 
a chief yeomanette in the Navy. She was a former member of American Legion Post 
118.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elmer F. Johnson, and a sister, Mrs. 
Bickerton W. Lane, both of Norfolk, two grandsons, Col. Lawrence F. Johnson, 
M.D., of Washington, and Dr. Wade Lane Johnson of Newport News; and three great-
grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Cox Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. 
William L. Lumpkin of Freemason Street Baptist Church. The family has requested 
that flowers be omitted.
