Virginian-Pilot January 1, 1942
Roland Kilby Lawrence, aged 31, died suddenly at his residence, 410 Raleigh 
avenue, Apartment No. 3, yesterday morning at 5:30 o'clock.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, Mr. Lawrence was the husband of Mrs. Hazel 
Virginia Bursey Lawrence and a son of Mrs. Daisy Schofield Lawrence and the late 
Albert D. Lawrence.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and an active member of the Young 
Men's Bible Class.
For the past 12 years, he has been associated with the Chesapeake & Potomac 
Telephone Company.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Lawrence is survived by two sisters, 
Mrs. Mary Sue Lawrence Cofer and Miss Dorothy Lawrence; a brother, A. Carl 
Lawrence, and a nephew, all of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover avenue, 
tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Broadus E. Jones, pastor of the First 
Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
