Virginian-Pilot January 20, 1941
Wallace Edward Lawrence, aged 67, for the past 10 years agent for the Chesapeake 
Steamship Company, died at 7:25 a.m. yesterday at a local hospital.
Mr. Lawrence, a native of Murfreesboro, N.C., was the son of the late James 
Norfleet and Mrs. Elizabeth Pruden Lawrence. He had been a resident of Norfolk 
for 15 years, and was well known in this section. He made his home in the 
Botetourt Apartments, 500 Botetourt street.
Mr. Lawrence was a member of Epworth Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mrs. Mary McCarrick Lawrence, he is survived by a 
sister, Mrs. Louis Cox, and two brothers, Lloyd J. Lawrence, and Nathaniel P. 
Lawrence, all of Murfreesboro.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, tomorrow at 3:30 p.m., with the Rev. Sparks W. 
Melton, D.D., pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, and the Rev. Moultrie 
Guerry, rector of Old St. Paul's Episcopal Church, officiating.
Burial will be private in Elmwood Cemetery.
